LOST SOUL ART STUDIO · SAN FRANCISCO

For the broken, lost & forgotten.

Getting lost in creativity. Creating from chaos. Finding beauty in the grotesque.

I'm Roberto Cisneros, and Lost Soul Art is my ongoing contemporary surrealist art practice. I make work about the psyche, individuality, emotion, identity, contradiction, transformation and the strange beauty that can come from difficult experiences.

I don't make art because I have everything figured out. I make it because I'm still figuring things out. The canvas gives me somewhere to put the things that are hard to explain any other way.

Why Lost Soul Art Exists

Before Lost Soul Art, my life moved through very different worlds. I came from ballet. I experienced homelessness. I fought addiction. There were periods when survival, identity and creativity became tangled together.

In 2021, I began finding Lost Soul Art as a way to create from that chaos instead of hiding from it. Art became a language for experiences that didn't always have words.

The name means exactly what it says: this work is for the parts of ourselves that get lost, rejected, misunderstood or forgotten.

The Work

I work across contemporary surrealism, fine art, portraiture, illustration, graffiti and street art, murals and live public creation. I am interested in wounds, grotesque forms, private emotions, desire, shadow, rebirth and the process of becoming someone new.

Where I Create

I paint in the studio, and I paint publicly in San Francisco's Castro neighborhood. For me, the street can become a studio. People can become part of the process. The act of creating in front of someone can be just as important as the finished piece.

I also create commissioned artwork, murals and commercial art, original paintings, physical prints and wearable art.

Still Getting Lost

I'm still getting lost. Maybe that's the point.
