LOST SOUL ART STUDIO · BEHIND THE WORK

My Process

I don't begin with a blank canvas. I begin with a feeling, a question, a contradiction, or something I cannot fully explain yet. The work is how I investigate it.

My process is structured enough to move an idea forward and open enough to let the unexpected change it. I work with contemporary surrealism, expressive color, symbolism, distorted forms and the tension between beauty and the grotesque. The choices are not decoration; they help carry the meaning.

01 · NOTICE

Find the question

Something catches in my mind: a memory, emotion, image, conversation, fear, desire or contradiction. I follow the part that feels charged rather than forcing an idea to arrive fully formed.

02 · EXPLORE

Sketch and collect

I use sketchbooks, reference, written notes and visual experiments to test shapes, symbols, composition and relationships. The early stage is allowed to be rough. Its job is discovery, not perfection.

03 · BUILD

Make the image physical

With acrylic, drawing, layers, texture and deliberate color choices, I move the idea into the work. I pay attention to value, rhythm, focal points and how the viewer's eye travels through the image.

04 · RESPOND

Let the work answer back

I revise, add, remove, scrape back or change direction when the painting asks for it. A mistake can become a discovery. A beautiful passage can be wrong if it does not serve the whole piece.

05 · DOCUMENT

Keep the journey visible

Photographs, videos, live broadcasts and notes preserve the decisions and detours behind the finished image. The archive matters because the process is part of the work, not disposable material.

06 · SHARE

Turn practice into connection

A finished piece may become part of a collection, a physical print, a lesson, a public painting session or a conversation with someone who sees their own experience in it. Then I reflect and begin again.

There is a method, not a formula

Every piece asks for something different. I use the same core questions—what am I trying to express, what deserves attention, what is distracting, and what does the work need next—but I don't force every idea into the same visual answer.

This is how Lost Soul Art grows: create, document, teach, connect, release, reflect, and create again.
